West County organization funds lifesaving research

Chesterfield-based Friends of the Saint Louis University Liver Center, along with the Young Friends of the SLU Liver Center, recently presented the Liver Center with checks in the amount of $530,000 and $10,000 respectively, the amounts raised by the organizations during 2015. The Friends organizations support the research efforts of the world-renowned center.

Balaban’s Restaurant  has announced the addition of Mario Nikolov as restaurant manager. Nikolov, a former St. Louis Country Club assistant general manager and a veteran of other prominent restaurants joins Balaban’s this month.

Ellie Cole has joined Kennedy Farms Equestrian Center in Chesterfield as an instructor. Cole holds bachelor’s degrees in both biology and equestrian general studies from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri, and also is an experienced hunter/jumper rider.

Lewis Rice LLC, with offices in St. Louis and Town & Country, recently announced that Amanda Gerhardt Anderson has rejoined the firm’s Taxation Department. Anderson has experience in all aspects of tax planning for partnerships and LLCs, corporations, and real estate transactions.  She holds a J.D. degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law and an LL.M. degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law.

First Bank recently promoted Heather Baldi to Branch Manager for the bank’s Town & Country branch location at 383 Lamp and Lantern Village in Chesterfield. Baldi previously served as branch manager at First Bank’s Highway 94 location in St. Charles.

Manchester resident Sandi Illian has launched Picasso’s Palette, a company which holds themed canvas and glass painting parties in the host’s home or office location. She also partners with The Lodge Des Peres, offering painting classes along with several other creative art classes.

St. Luke’s Urgent Care – Fenton recently opened in a new location at 774 Gravois Bluffs Blvd. in The Summit at Gravois Bluffs shopping center. The new location allows space for an adjoining primary care physician office, Fenton Family Physicans, which will open in April and will serve patients of all ages.

MERS/Goodwill recently opened its second St. Louis area outlet store at 5665 St. Louis Mills Blvd. in Bridgeton. The new location features 24,000 square feet of retail space for bargain shoppers, with items priced at $0.89 per pound. Revenue raised through the sale of MERS/Goodwill donations goes back to the community, funding vocational rehabilitation and employment programs.

Chesterfield attorney Jay G. Galmiche has been nominated and accepted by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys [AIOFLA] as one of its 10 Best in Missouri for Client Satisfaction in 2015. Attorneys selected to the “10 Best” list must pass a rigorous selection process which includes client and/or peer nominations and AIOFLA’s independent evaluation.

Nina Caldwell, Ed.D., Maryville University’s vice president for student life, has been named the Zenobia Hikes Memorial Award winner for outstanding commitment to the advancement of women in higher education and to student affairs. The award is given by NASPA, the leading association for student affairs professionals in higher education.

Northwestern Mutual and The Gross Financial Group have opened new offices in Chesterfield Towne Center, located at the intersection of  Long Road and Edison Avenue in Chesterfield Valley. A total of about 30 financial representatives and staff will be housed in the 7,109-square-foot space. The facility is the first Northwestern Mutual district office in the St. Louis area since 1998. Managing Director Douglas Berry will oversee operations of the new office.
