Exceptional leader appointed as new school president

As St. Joseph’s Academy heads into their 176th year of educating young women, its Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Regina Mooney as the next president, to further propel the school into the future.

St. Joseph’s Academy is a private, Catholic high school for girls sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Their mission is to provide quality Catholic education for young women in an environment that challenges them to grow in faith, knowledge and respect for self and others.

Dr. Mooney is an exceptional leader who brings passion for Catholic education to this leadership role. She is a woman of deep Catholic faith who has a clear sense of what it takes to be an effective leader, especially in the context of a Catholic, single-gender institution. Her broad experience includes all aspects of school business operations including strategic planning, admissions and enrollment, college counseling, institutional advancement and alumnae relations.

Dr. Mooney holds masters’ degrees in sacred theology and divinity from Yale University and a Doctorate of Philosophy from Claremont University. Her experience has taken her from teaching at Harvey Mudd College to Dean of Students at Mount Holyoke College. She continued to advance to a vice-president position at Reed College. Most recently she served as director of institutional advancement at Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls middle and high school located in Bellevue, Washington.

The school will host several events this fall to give Dr. Mooney the opportunity to meet the community. In the meantime, the Board of Directors and the entire school community welcomes Dr. Mooney to its outstanding leadership team.
