O’Fallon Fall Fest opens with street dance on Oct. 10

O’Fallon’s Fall Fest kicks off on Friday, Oct. 10 with a free street dance on Civic Park Drive from 7-10 p.m. Visitors can party beneath the autumn moon to the music of Trixie Delight’s powerhouse vocals on rock ‘n roll hits from the 1970s through today. All ages are welcome.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the city’s 30th annual Fall Fest takes place in Civic Park.

Country songwriter Bobby Cage & Friends will open the Fall Fest, followed by the Original Boneheads playing doowop, swing and variety on their trombones. Then, Gary and Carol Bibb & Friends will take the stage with more country tunes and Texas swing.

New this year are free pumpkin games. Visitors can participate in Pumpkin Bowling, tackle the Pumpkin Obstacle Course challenge, play Pass the Pumpkin, take their best shot at the Pumpkin Ring Toss, give the Pumpkin Roll a try and demonstrate their powers of observation with the Pumpkin Photo Scavenger Hunt.

Visitors can enjoy live entertainment featuring “Moogician” Todd Charles, the derring-do of the Swords & Roses all-female Wild West comedy stunt show, the Robinson Carving Company carving awesome critters with chainsaws and the talented dancers with Excel Performing Arts. Tours of the O’Fallon Historical Society’s Log Cabin Museum are also available (donations are welcome).

Shopping is a favorite Fall Fest activity, and this year’s lineup of hand-crafted items includes native-American themed crafts, decorated gourds, wood carving, home and garden art, specialty furniture, fall-to-winter holiday décor, gift baskets, hand-sewn infants’, children’s and doll’s clothing, kids’ and adults’ hair accessories, creative fashion, crocheted  and appliqued clothing and accessories, original art and photos, prints and note cards, sports items, and a wide variety of jewelry, including little girls’ jewelry, recycled vintage jewelry, stamped-brass and handmade silver-wire jewelry.

Renewal by Andersen will provide free photos taken in their photo booth. And kids can build something useful to take home at the Home Depot Kids’ Workshop (with help from parents and grandparents), get face painting and have fun decorating a pumpkin.

Visitors can purchase a variety of food, choosing from walking tacos, hamburgers and hotdogs, gyros, fish and chips, French fries, kettle corn, funnel cakes, fruit cobblers, snow cones, fried Oreos, frozen yogurt, lemonade, fruit juice, hot chocolate, soda, sweet tea, coffee, beer and wine.

Free Fall Fest event parking is available at the O’Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall) and at the corner of Woodlawn Avenue and Civic Park Drive. Visit www.ofallon.mo.us/fall-fest  for Fall Fest updates or call 379-5614.
