Parkway South kept its bragging rights by winning the annual Parkway Quad for the third consecutive year.
The host Patriots scored 633 points to win the girls swimming meet. Parkway West was second with 566 points, followed by Parkway Central with 482 and Parkway North with 462.
Parkway South coach Sara Gerth liked how her squad competed.
“I was very pleased with how we swam,” Gerth said. “We got out and raced our heats, and there were many best times.”
The Patriots won several events. Senior Kirstie Crook captured the 200 free and 500 free. Senior Jenna Wilkes won the 200 IM. Freshman Kirsten Votava won the 50 free.
“Swimming very well for us also were senior Andrea Bauer, senior Lauren Hetzler, junior Claire Reed, sophomore Mikayla VerMeer and sophomore diver Megan Hetzler,” Gerth said.
“This is always a fun meet for us,” she added. “It’s right after winter training, which can be brutal, so many of the girls get to see their hard work pay off at this meet. That’s rewarding as a coach because you push them so hard and they get to see why you do it.”
