On Dec. 1, Rockwood School District’s Board of Education approved moving its meeting location from Clarkson Valley to Eureka, effective Jan. 5. The board has regularly met at 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month in the cafeteria at Crestview Middle School, 16025 Clayton Road.
Effective in 2017, meetings will be held at Room A100 in the district’s Administrative Annex (the former Eureka High School building) at 500 North Central Ave. That building houses the district’s learning and support services department (curriculum, professional learning and assessment) as well as the communications department.
District officials have said the new site will offer a better audio visual experience, especially since Crestview’s metal roof makes hearing discussions difficult when it rains and the annex offers better AV equipment. Room A100 is large and accommodates workshops and staff meetings, officials said, adding it will allow for more seating in case of a crowd. The move also means the board meetings will no longer interrupt some Crestview activities, board president Matt Doell said.
