Local awards celebrate high school theatre

Westminster Christian Academy won an award for Outstanding Musical with their production of Fiddler on the Roof.

The first St. Louis High School Musical Theatre Awards winners were announced at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. The ceremony was hosted by Ken Page and directed by Tony Parisi. Winners were named in 15 categories, including an Outstanding Actress and Outstanding Actor who will go on to compete in the Jimmy Awards/National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City.

The West County students and theatre groups who were recognized with awards include:

  • Outstanding Supporting Actress: Natalie Brown as Golde in “Fiddler on the Roof” [Westminster Christian Academy]
  • Outstanding Ensemble: Parkway South High, “Nevermore”
  • Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Costume Design: Visitation Academy, “Nunsense”
  • Outstanding Musical – Level 2 Budget: Westminster Christian Academy, “Fiddler on the Roof”

Special Recognition Awards went to “The Show Must Go On,” McKay Marshall & Kelly Gleeson, Chaminade College Preparatory High, Sugar; and “Be Our Guest” – House Staff, Parkway North High, Schoolhouse Rock Live!

The St. Louis High School Musical Theatre Awards are a producing partnership between the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation, The Muny and The Fabulous Fox Theatre.
