Students present a check to the St. Joseph’s Academy Scholarship Fund.

St. Joseph’s Academy continues to pour out entrepreneurial success and serve the community. The student managers of the “Cup of Joe” coffee shop recently presented $1,000 checks to the Respect Life Apostolate, Saint Martha’s Hall and St. Joseph’s Academy Scholarship Fund as a result of the shop’s financial success during the 2016-17 school year.

The student managers choose which nonprofits the store will benefit. The Cup of Joe faculty moderator, Megan Hackmann, said, “We’ve always planned the profits to support causes that the St. Joseph’s Academy community believes in. It is part of the Entrepreneurship Program curriculum that the profits will benefit organizations that mirror the core values of the Academy.”

Cup of Joe provides students with the knowledge to run a business through innovative leadership. The shop aligns with the Future Business Leaders of America club to further propel business education and hands-on experiences. Students handle the financial planning, ordering and marketing, as well as other aspects of running a business.
