City awards first-ever business appreciation award

By: Mary Shapiro

Wildwood Mayor Jim Bowlin presented the city’s first business appreciation award to 9Round Fitness Wildwood on Aug. 14.

Reading from a proclamation, Bowlin noted that the firm, part of a nationwide kickboxing and fitness franchise, was established at 17185 New College Ave. in Wildwood in 2014 and was the first of four locations throughout the St. Louis area. He said the business has experienced significant growth, successful employee retention, outstanding customer service and positive community promotion.

He also noted that it received more nominations than any other Wildwood business for the fall 2017 Business Appreciation Award.

9Round Wildwood’s owner, April Porter, is a West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce board member and a member of the Wildwood Business Association. Additionally, she is working as the municipal judge for Clarkson Valley.

“9Round Wildwood has contributed to the betterment of the city of Wildwood, through its continued operation and dedication to its customers within and beyond our city,” Bowlin said.

The award highlights businesses throughout the city that achieve excellence in business. Recipients are chosen twice a year and nominated businesses must be located in the city limits and show significant business growth, successful employee retention and recruitment practices, outstanding customer service and/or positive community promotion.
