Celebrating 50 years of Parkway West High

By: Bonnie Krueger

In 1968, a group of Parkway educators opened a much-needed second high school. At the time, Dr. Al Burr was principal of the original Parkway High, running double shifts to meet the needs of one of the fastest-growing school districts in the nation.

To celebrate its rich 50-year history, Parkway West High is hosting a carnival on Saturday, Sept. 23, beginning at 10 a.m. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 after Thursday, Aug. 31. Children age 5 and under are free. In the evening, enjoy a dinner and dessert buffet at the Doubletree Hotel in Chesterfield beginning at 6:30 p.m. The evening event is $40 per person.
