A couple of big conference matches highlight the Week 5 schedule.
Lafayette makes the short jaunt to play at Eureka at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15. The two Suburban West Conference teams are off to good starts this season.
On Saturday, Priory plays at MICDS in a Metro League matchup. MICDS is the defending Metro League champions. The Rams went 5-0 last fall to claim the conference crown.
Lafayette scored a hard fought 14-7 victory last fall to snap a three-game winning streak in the rivalry by the Wildcats.
The two programs have been evenly matched. In the last 13 years, Eureka holds a 7-6 advantage over the Lancers.
The Wildcats reached the Class 6 quarterfinals last fall. Eureka has eight starters back on both sides of the ball this season.
Lafayette lost to Eureka 27-14 in the second round of postseason play last fall. The Lancers returned one starter on offense and two on defense this season.
MICDS defeated Priory 27-13 last fall. Priory last won in 2014 when the Rebels scored a 42-20 victory on their home field. The Rams have dominated the series over the last 13 years. MICDS owns an 11-2 edge over Priory in that span.
MICDS has seven starters on offense and six on defense back for coach Matt Buha. Priory has a young team this season for coach Marty Combs.
