Army recruiter recognized for community involvement

By: Jim Erickson

Angela Miers, an Army staff sergeant at the West County recruiting center on Manchester Road, received the President’s Volunteer Service Award at a ceremony sponsored by the American Legion.

The award recognizes Miers’ volunteerism in the community. She is an active member of the West County Chamber of Commerce, helps various military veteran groups and assists with Boy Scouts of America activities.

After returning from a deployment as a combat medic in Afghanistan, Miers was assigned to the West County recruiting center. She is a member of the American Legion’s Fenton Memorial Post 400. The Legion’s Tenth District, which includes the St. Louis County area, nominated her for the award.
