Fatal accident investigation closes Hwy. 109 in both directions

On Oct. 9, at approximately 2:20 p.m., St. Louis County Police officers from the city of Wildwood Precinct responded to a vehicle accident on Hwy. 109 near Babler Park Drive.

Upon arrival, officers located a one-vehicle accident in which a pick-up truck was traveling northbound on Hwy. 109, when it veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole. The vehicle overturned as a result.

The pick-up truck had two occupants, an adult male driver and an adult female passenger. The driver has been identified as Kevin Freyer, 57, of the 33000 block of Audrain Road 416 in Laddonia, Missouri. He was pronounced deceased on scene. The female passenger, 52, was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive her injuries.

The incident is under investigation and it remains very active at this time. Hwy.  109 will remain closed in both directions for the foreseeable future as the investigation continues.
