Dressing down raises money for hurricane recovery efforts

By: Bonnie Krueger

A recent dress down day at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Des Peres raised $1,850 to help recovery efforts at Lutheran South Academy in Houston following Hurricane Harvey. The school, which serves more than 800 students in pre-K through 12th grade, experienced extensive damage during the weather disaster.

Seven St. Louis-area Lutheran schools took part in the fundraising drive, which was organized by Abiding Savior Lutheran in south St. Louis County. At each school, students and staff made a minimum donation of $3 to wear non-uniform clothing for the day. Together, they raised a collective $8,300 for the relief effort. St. Paul’s is planning an additional fundraiser to help a school in the Florida Keys.

Students pose in their everyday “dress down” clothes to raise money for hurricane relief efforts.
