Parkway West makes fourth consecutive appearance in Class 4 state girls cross country meet

Fresh off a sectional championship, the Parkway West girls will head into the state cross country championships with momentum.

Area runners will compete Saturday, Nov. 4 on the 5,000-meter course at Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City’s Hough Park.

Here is the schedule of girls’ races:

Class 2: 9 a.m.

Class 1: 10:45 a.m.

Class 4: 11:20 a.m.

Class 3: 11:55 a.m.

Parkway West won the Sectional 2 race at Parkway Central with 47 points. Eureka was second with 82. The top four teams and top 30 individuals not on those teams advance to the state meet.

This will be Parkway West’s 22nd appearance in the state meet and fourth in a row in the Class 4 meet. The Longhorns last won state in 1990. In all, Parkway West has four state trophies and two state championships.

Also running in Class 4 will be Eureka. The Wildcats are making their 23rd appearance at state. The last time came in 2014. Eureka’s best finish is second and it was last done in 2012. The program has eight state trophies.

Westminster Christian Academy will compete in the Class 3 race. The Wildcats won the District 3 meet to reach state. In a district, the top two teams and top 15 individuals not on those teams advance to state.

It will be Westminster’s fourth state appearance and second in a row. It’s best finish was second in 2001. Westminster has two state trophies.

Incarnate Word Academy won the Class 3 District 4 meet. The Red Knights will be making their 11th appearance at state. The team’s last time running in Jefferson City came in 2013. The program’s best finish was sixth and it happened in 1994.

In Class 2, Whitfield will be making its 13th state appearance and sixth in a row. Whitfield reached state by winning the District 2 race. Whitfield’s best finish is third and it was last done in 2016. The program has six state trophies.
