Speller advances to local spelling bee in March

Grant Klasing [fifth grade] was the first-place winner followed by Kennedy Ituen [fourth grade] who placed second.

Chesterfield Day School [CDS] held its schoolwide K-6 Spelling Bee on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

Nineteen participants demonstrated not only their ability to spell challenging words but also their perseverance as they spelled their way through 11 rounds, resulting in a winner. Fifth-grader Grant Klasing was the first place winner and fourth grader Kennedy Ituen placed second. Klasing will represent CDS at the local spelling bee at McKendree University in March.

The 19 CDS students who participated in the spelling bee were: Athreya Arvind, Lucy Black, Max Black, Kieran Creeth, Deven Creeth, Zoe Dickherber, Wyatt Eggers, Veronica Galiano, Allison Honold, Woobin Joo, Mary Laws, Sawyer Mandell, Grace Rollo, Aiden Scherer, Liam Watson, Sean Widel and Finley Wilkins.
