Brewers Flooring in Valley Park

Brewer’s Flooring is celebrating its 35th year in business. The store, located at 6 Meramec Valley Plaza in Valley Park, is locally owned and operated by the Brewer family and specializes in the service and installation of residential and commercial flooring.

Chesterfield Mall recently underwent an extensive lighting upgrade throughout most of its common areas and retail spaces, earning over $98,000 in incentives from the Ameren Missouri BizSavers program. It is estimated that the upgrade will save the mall nearly $93,000 on its yearly energy statement. The mall worked with Villa Lighting and the Biz Savers program to upgrade its HID, CFL and metal halide lighting to LED lighting.

St. Louis County Library has been ranked as a four-star library in the Library Journal Index of Public Library Service for the fourth consecutive year. SLCL is the only library in the St. Louis area to be included in this year’s index, and one of six in the state of Missouri. The rank of four stars indicates a high per capita use in four major areas of library service: library visits, circulation, program attendance and public internet computer use. To create the index, public libraries are compared to others with similar annual expenditures and ranked accordingly.

Parents as Teachers National Center announced a gift of $100,000 from BJC HealthCare to establish the Susan and Steven Lipstein Show Me Strong Families Fund. BJC HealthCare made the gift on behalf of Susan and Steven Lipstein to honor Steven’s retirement as the chief executive officer of BJC HealthCare and to honor Susan’s service as a certified Parents as Teachers parent educator in the Clayton School District. The gift will establish a fund in perpetuity to improve the health, academic achievement and overall well-being of children in St. Louis.

The fifth location of Seoul Taco, a Korean-Mexican fast-casual restaurant, now is open in Chesterfield at 46 Four Seasons Shopping Center. Chef/Owner David Choi’s menu showcases the recipes and flavors of his Korean-American upbringing in Chesterfield and features Korean-influenced tacos, quesadillas, burritos and nachos.

DiAnne Mueller

The Missouri Foundation for Health has named DiAnne Mueller, CEO of Saint Louis Crisis Nursery, as the 2017 recipient of the Dr. Corinne Walentik Leadership in Health Award. Mueller has served as CEO of the Crisis Nursery for more than 23 years and has dedicated her professional life to preventing child abuse and helping marginalized people live healthier lives. The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery provides emergency intervention, respite care and support to families in crisis through short-term care for young children, crisis resolution and advocacy.

Denny Mertz

Denny Mertz, a Chesterfield farmer and resident, has received the 2017 St. Louis Agribusiness Club Member of the Year award for his agricultural advocacy, education and promotion efforts. Mertz recently concluded an eight-year term on the board of directors of the Missouri Farm Bureau and is a past president and current board member of the Agricultural Leadership of Tomorrow Foundation. Mertz’s ancestors settled in the Chesterfield region in the 1840s.

Suzanne Fontaine

Susan G. Komen Missouri recently announced the appointment of Suzanne Fontaine as the organization’s next executive director. Most recently, Fontaine was director of events and marketing for St. Louis Children’s Hospital Foundation, where she and her team raised more than $3.5 million in charitable contributions annually. Fontaine earned her Master of Arts degree in communication from the University of Missouri and her Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from the University of Tulsa.
