The city of Ballwin will close a portion of Ries Road to through traffic beginning May 23 as work begins on replacing a bridge over Fishpot Creek. The closing will continue until approximately early September.
When construction has reached the point where Ries can be re-opened, Ramsey Lane will be closed for a bridge replacement project there, Ballwin City Administrator Eric Hanson told the Board of Aldermen at its May 14 meeting.
Both roads will not be closed at the same time.
Except for local traffic, the Ries closure will extend from the bridge itself to the Ramsey-Ries intersection.
Detour signs for through traffic will direct motorists to Sulphur Spring Road, New Ballwin Road and Ramsey Road.
During the closure, temporary stop signs will be placed at the Ramsey-Ballwin Commons Drive intersection. Also, no left turns will be permitted onto Manchester Road by northbound vehicles on Ramsey.
KCI Construction is the contractor for the bridge work. The project is 80 percent funded by the Federal Highway Administration.
A letter, with a map showing the closure area and detours, has been sent to residents in the affected area. Anyone with questions should contact Gary Kramer, Ballwin’s city engineer and director of its public works department, at (636) 227-2185 or by email at email@example.com.
