Italian culinary tradition is what made The Hill neighborhood famous and Charlie Gitto Jr. renown among restaurateurs.
“I grew up around food and a family that loved to cook,” said Gitto, who had a dream of owning his own restaurant since he was a kid. “In 1981, the opportunity came to open Charlie Gitto’s On The Hill, and the rest is history.”
In the nearly 40 years since, Gitto has made St. Louis restaurant history with his mouth-watering cuisine, which can now be found at two more locations: Charlie Gitto’s At Hollywood Casino in Maryland Heights, and at Charlie Gitto’s From The Hill, located right here in Chesterfield.
Each location has its own feel and personality, but one thing remains constant: the collection of signature dishes that customers have come to know.
“[Charlie Gitto’s] From the Hill has a casual, elegant setting that’s comfortable, not pretentious,” Gitto said.
At Charlie Gitto’s, customers will find original, fresh, made-from-scratch dishes. Pastas are made fresh with homemade noodles; brick-oven pizzas are made to order with fresh dough; steaks are premium center-cut and aged a minimum of 28 days; salads are dressed with made-from-scratch dressings and soups are made fresh daily from longtime family recipes.
Top it all off by choosing from a display of homemade treats at the dessert and espresso bar. Carry-out and drop-off catering options are designed to accommodate corporate events and at-home entertaining.
“We try to have something for everybody,” said Gitto. “We want to be an affordable place you can frequent.”
