Libbey Tucker, former Chesterfield assistant city administrator/community services and economic development director, began a new position as assistant to the city manager/economic development director of University City on Feb. 4. Tucker has a bachelor’s degree in human resources and office management from Missouri State University and an MBA from Drury University.

AWARDS

Mercy Clinic received the HPV Vaccine Is Cancer Prevention Champion Award for outstanding efforts to protect adolescents from cancers caused by HPV in Missouri. Led in partnership by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Association of American Cancer Institutes and the American Cancer Society, the HPV Vaccine Is Cancer Prevention Champion Award program recognizes clinicians, clinics, practices, groups and health systems that are going above and beyond to foster HPV vaccination in their community. This year, the award program is honoring champions from 31 states.

Mark Ohlendorf, founder and executive director of the St. Louis County Parks Foundation, received the Land Conservancy Award for 2018 from the Open Space Council of the Greater St. Louis Region.  The award is given annually to an individual or organization that has made outstanding contributions to enhancing, conserving, or sustaining the region’s open spaces. Ohlendorf’s family donated two parcels of land and the carousel at Faust Park to St. Louis County Parks. 

EVENTS

The West St. Louis Chamber of Commerce hosts its general membership meeting from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28 at The Wildwood Hotel, 2801 Fountain Place in Wildwood. Chief Mike Krause, of Metro West Fire Protection District, will be the guest speaker. Admission is $25 for members; $30 for nonmember guests. This year’s Legislative Update hosted by Progress 64 West will feature a panel of representatives, including Pat Kelly from St. Louis Municipal League and a representative from Better Together, discussing the city/county merger.
