Kathryn [Kat] Douglas has been appointed as the director of parks, recreation and arts for the city of Manchester, effective May 20.
Douglas was approved by an unanimous vote on emergency legislation at the May 6 Board of Aldermen meeting.
As director, Douglas will supervise the operation of the municipal parks and other recreational facilities including the operation of the municipal swimming pool, picnic pavilions, ball diamonds, playground areas and tennis courts. She also will supervise the operation of the city’s Homecoming Committee and the operation of the city’s art council as established in the municipal code of ordinances.
Douglas replaces former director Eileen Collins, who has retired. Douglas was hired in early 2016 as the recreation and arts specialist within the parks, recreation and arts department.
