Interstate 64-Mason Road corridor beautification project moves forward

By: Bonnie Krueger

An approved beautification project for the Interstate 64-Mason Road corridor is underway following the approval of Gateway Design Studio as the project designer during the Town & Country Board of Aldermen meeting on April 22.

A 2019 budget line item of $20,000 was requested to cover the cost of architectural design, but the final cost was approved for $24,950 to Gateway Design Studio; an increase of $5,000 approved at the April 22 meeting.

With the line item increase approval, the total project cost is budgeted for $241,681. On Oct. 22, 2018, the city accepted a gift of $100,000 by BJC Healthcare and an additional $25,000 gift by Lutheran Senior Services. An additional donation of $5,000 from AAA of Missouri was accepted by City Administrator Bob Shelton, pursuant to Section 155.030.A of the municipal code. Those donations will offset the total cost.
