Local schools in Parkway and Rockwood both received recognition as National Schools of Character designations by Character.org.
In Parkway, Hanna Woods Elementary was listed as a 2019 recipient. McKelvey Elementary was also renewed as a National School of Character after first receiving the designation in 2014.
In Rockwood, Lafayette High and Blevins Elementary were named 2019 National Schools of Character. Like McKelvey, Blevins received a second recognition after its initial designation in 2014.
National Schools of Character are screened through an evaluation process that determines if a school’s character has had a positive impact on academics, student behavior and the school climate. Each year, Character.org and its state affiliates select schools and districts that demonstrate a dedicated focus on character development programs.
