River Bend Elementary has been named a Leader in Me Lighthouse School by achieving outstanding results following the implementation of the Leader in Me process. The Lighthouse recognition is awarded to schools that create a culture of student empowerment, based on the idea that every child can be a leader. The recognition honors the extraordinary impact the school is having on staff, students, parents, and the greater community.
The Leader in Me framework helps students learn how to become self-reliant; manage their emotions; set and track goals; do their homework; prioritize their time; increase interpersonal skills, such as resolve conflicts and interact well with others; and help them develop the skills and self-confidence to lead their lives and succeed.
Parkway now has four national Leader in Me Lighthouse Schools, with Barretts, Bellerive and Henry elementary schools previously named Lighthouse Schools. River Bend Elementary will maintain its Lighthouse certification for the next two years and will be able to renew its Lighthouse certification through a virtual self-assessment, describing and celebrating its growth and accomplishments since its original Lighthouse designation.
