CBC will play host to the Winton Woods Warriors in the big game for Week 6 in high school football.
The Cadets (4-1) will host Winton Woods (4-1) at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Winton Woods is located in Forest Park, Ohio, which is near Cincinnati. The Warriors will be playing CBC, the defending Class 6 state champions, for the first time. The Warriors are coming off a 51-31 loss to St. Edward, of Lakewood, Ohio.
The Cadets rebounded last week with a 42-14 win over St. Louis University High. Two weeks ago, De Smet defeated CBC 42-14 in a game that was broadcast on ESPNU to a national television audience. In the victory, De Smet stopped a 10-game losing streak to the Cadets. The loss snapped CBC’s 37-game winning streak in the Metro Catholic Conference.
The Cadets face a big challenge this week. The defense will be challenged by the Warriors’ running game.
Winton Woods is led by senior Miyan Williams, who is a four-year varsity starter at running back for the Warriors. He has already surpassed 5,000 rushing yards in his great career. He is coming off a stellar junior season when he was an Ohio Mr. Football finalist and helped the Warriors to a 12-2 season and an Ohio state Division II runner-up finish.
Last season, Williams rushed for 2,824 yards and 38 touchdowns, including a memorable record performance when he ran for 431 yards and six touchdowns in a first-round playoff win over Lewis Center Olentangy. The 431 yards was the most ever by a Cincinnati player in the postseason. He had six games last season of 200-plus rushing yards.
Williams holds several school records, including most yards in a game (431), most rushing TDs in a game (6) and most rushing TDs in a season (38).
His many honors last season included being named first team all-USA-Ohio Offense by USA Today and the Ohio state Division II Offensive Player of the Year.
