There’s just one week to go before the postseason begins for area teams.
There are several solid matchups this week highlighted by the Marquette Mustangs meeting the Eureka Wildcats in a Suburban West Conference American Division game. The teams meet Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. in Eureka.
Marquette won the division last season with a spotless 4-0 record. The 3-1 Wildcats came in second to the Mustangs.
The Mustangs scored a 13-12 win last season over Eureka. That victory snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Wildcats.
On Thursday, Oct. 17, the Suburban Central National Division game has Parkway Central at Parkway West with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
Parkway West earned a 39-30 win over the Colts last fall. The Longhorns triumph halted a 10-game losing streak to Parkway Central.
In a Class 6 battle of state powers, CBC heads west to play the Rockhurst Hawklets in Kansas City. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. on Friday. The game is a rematch of last year’s state championship game. The Cadets won that one 45-21. It was their second state championship. CBC’s first state title came in 2014 when the Cadets scored a 31-24 victory over Rockhurst.
Here are the games set for Friday, Oct. 18. All have 7 p.m. kickoffs.
