On Oct. 16, Ellisville’s mayor and city council unanimously approved a conditional use permit [CUP] that permitted the Missouri Baptist Medical Center/BJC Medical Group to operate an outpatient center at 15830 Fountain Plaza Drive. The 45,000-square-foot site was the previous home of a Lucky’s Market grocery store that closed its doors Aug. 26.
The facility would have space for physicians and specialists. The location will also offer services like mammography, bone density tests, ultrasounds and more.
The outpatient center would be the site’s first instance of medical use. Before housing Lucky’s Market, the site previously served as a Straub’s grocery store, which closed in 2009.
The outpatient center is also the first use the site will see following the Fountain Plaza’s acquisition by The DESCO Group, a St. Louis-based real estate agency.
“They recently acquired that [property] and they’ve been doing a bunch of landscaping to open up that whole shopping center to make it more attractive,” Ellisville Mayor Mike Roemerman said.
According to Roemerman, the outpatient center will also include 50 parking spots and provide up to 50 local jobs.
“That’s huge,” Roemerman said. “That’s a lot of people coming into our area that we really like to see because those folks and the ones that are coming here for the services will shop in the stores and eat in the restaurants and such. We love the activity.”
After The DESCO Group became the property’s new landlord, two new tenants committed to vacant spaces on the site as a result.
In addition to the BJC outpatient center, the council also unanimously approved a CUP permitting Chicago-based TVG-Medulla, LLC to open a Chiro One Wellness Center at 15876 Fountain Plaza Drive. The medical facility will provide chiropractic and wellness treatments.
“They’re not going to be right next to each other,” Roemerman said. “Chiro One is going to be adjacent to Lifetime [Fitness], which is very fitting.”
