Recognition for excellence in science

St. Joseph’s Academy science teacher Katie Lodes is a recipient of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Facilitated by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the award was established by Congress in 1983 and is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government to teachers of mathematics and science. Awardees serve as models for colleagues and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education. Lodes was one of only four educators in Missouri to receive this honor.
