A big thanks to Representative Ann Wagner for taking the lead in the House of Representatives and sponsoring a letter to the 2020 appropriations committee asking to fund The Global Fund.
At the height of the AIDS crisis nearly two decades ago, the world came together to fight back, creating the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. This international partnership has helped save 27 million lives since its inception in 2002. The United States has always been a leader in this fight by funding the Global Fund. However, the Global Fund is currently facing threats from the White House because of proposed cuts to foreign aid.
Thanks to Rep. William Lacy Clay and Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer for joining Rep Wagner and supporting the Global Fund. This is a big step toward achieving global health and we are proud that Missouri is in the forefront in this strive that can potentially change history.
This bill has currently passed the house. However, it needs support from the Senate. I urge our Senators, Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley to join this effort to free our world from AIDS.
