Week 12 high school football: District championship games

It’s time for high school football district championship games in Week 12.

In Class 6, undefeated De Smet (11-0) will entertain Francis Howell (10-1). The kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday.

Last week in the District 1 semifinals, De Smet eliminated defending state champion CBC 35-14. Francis Howell scored a 42-6 win over Hazelwood Central.

De Smet has not won a district title since 2012.

In District 3, Marquette (10-1) travels Joplin to play the undefeated Eagles (11-0). Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday.

Last week in the semifinals, Joplin whipped Kirkwood 69-48. Marquette earned a 31-21 win over Lindbergh.

In Class 5, Eureka (9-1) will host defending state champion Vianney (2-8) for the District 2 championship at 7 p.m. Friday. Last week in the semifinals, Eureka blanked Oakville 43-0 while Vianney topped Mehlville 23-10.

Eureka last won a district championship in Class 6 in 2017. This year, the program was moved down to Class 5.

In District 3, McCluer North (7-3) will be at Chaminade (7-3) for a 7 p.m. game Friday. Last week in the semifinals, Chaminade beat Webster Groves 35-21 while McCluer North thrashed Parkway West 50-25.

Chaminade lost won a district title in 2016.

In Class 3, Priory (9-2) will play at Trinity (7-3) in a 7 p.m. Friday game for the District 3 championship. Last week, Priory knocked off John Burroughs 28-21 while Trinity thumped University City 49-6.

Priory last won a district championship in 2011. The Rebels had not won nine games in a season since 1999. The Rebels have met Trinity once before. Priory lost that game at Trinity 56-0 on Aug. 19, 2016.
