Letter to the Editor: In support of police

God bless our police officers who are sworn to “serve and protect” our community from those who disregard our life and property. Recently our Chesterfield Police Department in an act of self defense, when confronted with lethal force against them, had to use lethal force. Had this situation not been stopped a pedestrian or family may have inadvertently become the barrier hindering escape with disastrous consequences.

Our officers are our “watchmen on the wall” establishing a “thin blue line” separating order from chaos protecting the law-abiding community from lawlessness.

Their authority to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect life and property is established by our Creator, U.S. Constitution, Missouri and local law. They have the full support of our community. We stand with them.

Our community grieves and prays for grace, peace and healing for all families being affected. We pray for our community that the law-abiding will be safe and that the lawless will turn and seek spiritual counseling.

To officers sworn to serve and protect stand strong! Hold the thin blue line at all cost! Our community, state and country are depending on you!

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing [Edmund Burke in a letter addressed to Thomas Mercer].” May God bless and protect you. We’ve got your six!
