For over 56 years, Countryside Montessori School has maintained its commitment to educating the whole child in a warm, loving, nurturing Montessori environment. Their goal is to cater to a child’s need for intellectual, physical, social and emotional development.
Even with the recent pandemic, Countryside has continued to remain open caring for children of first responders and essential workers and has implemented the guidelines set forth by the CDC and St. Louis County in order to continue to provide a safe environment for children and staff. In addition to smaller class sizes that have the same staff with the same children each day, Countryside also has three scheduled daily temperature and wellness checks, increased sanitizing in the classrooms, and also sanitizes all areas of the playground after each use. Countryside went a step further and divided the playground into separate areas for the toddlers and preschoolers so that each classroom can spend more time outside each day without having to share playground space.
Initially, the division of the playground was temporary. However, a decision was recently made to make this a permanent change.
“There should always be a positive from a negative,” Jenifer Hanser, director of Countryside Montessori School, said. “This pandemic has brought a lot of negatives, so if we can find one thing to turn around the mindset and get even just one positive this is it for Countryside! We are also redesigning each play space with age appropriate equipment so the children can safely climb, slide, run and play.”
Countryside is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and a member school of the American Montessori Society.
Countryside offers half-day, full-day and extended-day programs for children ages 8 weeks through kindergarten, plus Mom’s Day Out, toddler, preschool, kindergarten and summer camp programs.
