Manchester approves asphalt project

The Manchester Board of Aldermen unanimously passed two resolutions at its regular meeting on Aug. 3 for asphalt improvement projects made possible by Proposition S.

The first resolution approved a contract with E. Meier Contracting, Inc., the lowest of six bidders, for the mill/overlay of Mandalay Drive, east of Firefly Court; Alfresco, Rondo, Pas and Canary drives; Stardust Court; Cardinal Lane; Thrush and Wren avenues. The contract amount is $254,304.22 and includes a 5% contingency ($12,109.72) to be used for unforeseen, but necessary, work.

The project also will include replacement or new construction of ADA compliant sidewalk curb ramps, where necessary. It is expected to be complete by Oct. 30.

The second resolution enters into a contract with Horner & Shifrin, Inc. for $25,860 to provide the city with project management services for the asphalt improvements.
