A resolution passed at the regular Manchester Board of Aldermen meeting on Sept. 21 would authorize the city to accept CARES Act funding.
The resolution requests that St. Louis County distribute $47 million of CARES Act funds on a per capita basis to the municipalities within the county to be used for eligible expenses.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury has issued eligibility guidelines for use of the CARES Act fund which includes, in part, payroll expenses for public safety, which is presumed to be services substantially dedicated to mitigating or responding to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The CARES Act went into effect March 27 and the eligibility period ends on Dec. 30.
The resolution authorizes the city administrator and director of finance to submit and sign the application, certification and any other documents on behalf of the city of Manchester that are reasonably required to carry out the intent of the resolution.
