Dogwood Social House recently opened at 15682 Manchester Road in Ellisville. The entertainment venue features axe throwing, bowling, table games, billiards, simulation and arcade games, and private karaoke. Visitors can also watch a favorite sporting event or live band while partaking in its full menu of food and drinks.

Benson Hill recently celebrated the opening of its new Creve Coeur headquarters at 1001 North Warson Road. The new 160,000-square-foot facility as a modern and functional space that brings Benson Hill’s team under one roof. Benson Hill is a St-Louis based biotech firm that works with prominent food and agriculture companies on improving crop varieties.

St. Louis Divorce Law Firm founding partners Kirk C. Stange and Paola A. Stange were named co-chairs for the 2020-21 Old Newsboys Fund for Children’s Charities. Old Newsboys is a nonprofit organization that has raised millions of dollars for hundreds of area children’s charities. Throughout the years, the Stanges have been recognized for charitable contributions and community service to the organization. The annual Old Newsboys Day event will be on Nov. 19 this year, during which a special edition of the newspaper highlighting regional charities that receive funding through them is sold at street corners.

Wildwood resident Steve Hastings joined the board of directors of Child Care Aware, Missouri Chapter. The organization leads projects that increase the quality and availability of childcare, undertakes research and advocates childcare policies that positively impact the lives of children and families. He holds a marketing degree from the University of Illinois and a master in business administration from Butler University. Hastings and brother his Brett are co-owners of Nutracom, a powder food and supplement manufacturing company in Chesterfield.

Dr. Nancy H. Blattner began her role as president of Fontbonne University this academic year. Blattner formerly served as vice president and dean for academic affairs at Fontbonne before assuming the presidency at Caldwell University in 2009. She holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education/English and a master’s degree in English from Southeast Missouri State University and a Ph.D. in educational psychology from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. 


The Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine has been named among the top cancer centers nationally by U.S. News & World Report. The recognition is part of the overall ranking of Barnes-Jewish and Washington University, which are No. 18 on the news magazine’s 2020-21 “Best Hospitals” list. In cancer care, Siteman was ranked 11th nationally, while taking the number one spot in Missouri. Also placing in the “Top 10” in cancer care in Missouri is Missouri Baptist Medical Center (No. 3), Mercy Hospital (No. 4) and St. Luke’s Hospital (No. 7).


The West St. Louis Chamber of Commerce hosts its general membership meeting from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 at Forest Hills Country Club, 36 Forest Club Drive in Chesterfield. Admission is $30 for members; $35 for nonmember guests. There is a $5 surcharge for registration less than 48 hours prior to the luncheon and for walk-ins.
