Students across Parkway and Rockwood schools found ways to creatively celebrate Veterans Day even when COVID-19 prevented the usual celebrations.

The spirit days that extended beyond Veterans Day for some schools included wearing red, white and blue at Uthoff Valley and River Bend elementary schools to Hats for Heroes and Vests & Visors for Veterans Day at Fairway Elementary. Fairway also created a 5-minute video to thank veterans.

River Bend Elementary’s kindergartners created artwork, while the two first-grade classrooms gave a patriotic performance. The patriotic theme carried through the school in a Wall of Heroes that highlighted family members who have served in the U.S. military.

Pierremont, Uthoff and other elementary schools shared photos, stories and appreciation for the veterans in their lives on wall displays.

At Parkway Southwest Middle, staff and veterans collaborated with students to hold a virtual Veterans Day Celebration to engage the community.

Bellerive Elementary created a YouTube video highlighting and honoring students and staff who served, or are serving, in the military.
