The Monarch Fire Protection District’s board of directors approved Jim McKay to succeed Roger Herin as fire marshal, effective May 1. McKay has been a member of the Monarch Fire Prevention Bureau for over 21 years. His duties will include management of the Fire Prevention Bureau, administration and enforcement of the Monarch Fire Prevention Code, public education, fire investigation and serving as a public information officer. Herin retired April 30.
