The Eureka Wildcats deserved the top seed in the packed Class 4 District 4 softball tournament but really there are several teams that could win it, coach Mark Mosley said. “I think it made sense for us to get the top seed,” Mosley said. “We beat two of the other teams in our district and have the best record. But make no mistake, there are multiple teams in this district that are talented enough to be No. 1 seeds. Parkway South eyes another district softball crown after a good regular season

The Parkway South Patriots are out to repeat as district softball champions this week. The Patriots (19-8) are seeded No. 1 in Class 4 District 3 and entered postseason with a hard-fought 5-3 win Monday over Marquette, the top seed in District 6. The Marquette Mustangs have played consistent softball this season and coach Chris Meador’s squad has been rewarded with the top seed in Class 4 District 6. The Mustangs (17-6) have a game to play Tuesday against Northwest before entering district play this week. Incarnate Word Academy softball coach Rachel Gill has been impressed by the play of her Red Knights this season. “This team has absolutely blown away an expectation that I had for them when the season started,” Gill said. “They have played very well and continue to get better everyday. District softball championships are nothing new for the Kennedy Celts and coach Troy Ufert would like to see his squad add another one. The Celts won Class 2 District 3 last year and have won four district titles in four of the last six years. Kennedy (18-4) is the top seed in the district. Westminster wins first Metro League title, earns honors from St. Louis Rams

The Westminster Christian Academy Wildcats are in uncharted waters but coach Cory Snyder knows his squad will be able to navigate them. The Wildcats earned a 27-14 win over visiting John Burroughs on Saturday (Oct. 3) to move to 7-0. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak to the Bombers. The high school softball postseason begins Wednesday (Oct.7) for local schools. Semifinal games will be played Thursday with the district championship games set for Friday. Here are the seeds for each district as well as the game schedule. Class 4 District 4 Seeds: Eureka (15-3), Northwest 16-8), Washington (14-9), Lafayette (9-11), and Rolla (4-16). Class 2 Sectional 1 high school girls golf tourney loaded with talented teams

Eureka coach Lauren Schoellhorn won’t be with her Wildcats when they tee it up in high school girls sectional golf tournament. She wasn’t with them when the qualified at district, either. Instead, Schoellhorn gave birth to a girl, Gretchen, who has a brother Noah, who is almost 3 years old. Her assistant coach, Ryley Spiezio, led the girls to districts and will be at the sectional as well while Schoellhorn is on maternity leave.
