De Smet coach Josh Klein liked the response he saw from his Spartans after the squad won a district soccer championship. “Their reaction was wonderful,” Klein said. “The smiles on their faces in the postgame photo is what it’s all about. Marquette wins district soccer championship, will play Oakville in sectional round

The Marquette Mustangs are still playing. The Mustangs (19-3) will face Oakville in a meeting of Suburban Conference Yellow Pool boys soccer teams at 6 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 6) in a Class 4 sectional game at Oakville. Marquette shared the conference championship with an 8-1 record. The Tigers (12-13) went 4-5 in league play. The teams met during the regular season with Marquette scoring a 6-1 conference victory. CBC to face Holt for first time in soccer, teams square off in sectional game

The CBC Cadets face a new opponent in a high school boys soccer game. The Cadets will entertain Holt at 6 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 6) in a Class 4 sectional matchup. CBC coach Terry Michler is anticipating a tough game for his team. “Holt has 19 wins,” Michler said. The Indians (19-4-2) defeated Timberland 2-0 to win the District 4 tournament. Chaminade uses week off to practice to meet Fort Zumwalt West in soccer sectional

The Chaminade Red Devils have had a week off since winning the district soccer championship and coach Mike Gauvain said his squad it ready to get out and play. The Red Devils (22-4) will meet the Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars (15-11) at 6 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 6) in a Class 4 sectional matchup. Chaminade defeated Ritenour 5-0 to claim the District 7 championship. Fort Zumwalt West defeated Francis Howell 1-0 in overtime for the District 8 title. The two teams met earlier in the season. The Parkway West Longhorns hit the road with momentum for the second week in Class 5 postseason football. The 7-3 Longhorns will face the 6-3 Vianney Golden Griffons at 7 p.m. Friday (Nov. 2). Lafayette heads into state cross country meet after winning sectional race

The Lafayette Lancers are running back to state. The boys cross country team finished first in the Class 4 Sectional 1 meet at Big Driver in Washington. The Lancers won the sectional race with 47 points. The big victory came after Lafayette finished third in the District 2 meet the previous week. Parkway West girls win sectional to vault into state cross country meet

The mission for the Parkway West girls cross country team in the sectional race was a clear one. “We wanted to win sectionals and punch our ticket to the state meet,” Longhorns coach Charlie Cutelli said. “We knew we had a chance at doing this if we ran like we had run all year.” Parkway West won its district race.
