Adventure Club hosts informational meetings

Parents intersted in learning more about the Rockwood Adventure Club are invited to attend one of two upcoming informational meetings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Crestview Middle School, 16025 Clayton Road in Ellisville; or on Thursday, Jan. 8 at Rockwood Summit High, 1780 Hawkins Road in Fenton.

Rockwood teacher wins STEM award for innovative use of 3-D technology

As the final warning bell rang at Lafayette High, signaling that the next class period had begun, students in Mark McAllister’s class were already hard at work. They were working in a 3-D solid modeling program called Autodesk Inventor, which allows students to create shapes and then turn them into solid forms. The work is exciting, hence the reason the students are eager to get started and why they stay engaged. Bulletin Board: Teams advance in FIRST LEGO League competition

Teams advance in FIRST LEGO League competition The Seuss Scientists, a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team representing several West County schools, recently participated in an Eastern Missouri Qualifier. Coaches Scott and Marta Allred of Wildwood Middle; Kate Allred, an eighth-grader at LaSalle Springs Middle; Ben Hughes, a fifth-grader at Ridge Meadows Elementary; Myles Allred, a fifth-grader at Ridge Meadows Elementary; and Brendan Benigno, a fifth-grader at St. Alban Roe make up the team. Rockwood addresses student protests

Rockwood School District Superintendent Eric Knost wrote to secondary school parents during the first week in December, saying he wanted to clarify his position and that of the district “regarding any demonstrations that have occurred on our school campuses.”

Westminster to launch new study abroad program  

Beginning in the summer of 2015, a group of 15-20 world language students from Westminster Christian Academy will have the opportunity to travel to China, France, Spain, or Korea to study for a week at an international school corresponding to their foreign language coursework.
