MICDS’ Smith becomes interim AD, Buha promoted to varsity football coach, AD Maurer leaves for MSHAA

Don Maurer, the longtime MICDS athletic director, is leaving the school and that’s created some shuffling. Head of School Lisa Lyle announced Monday (May 4) that Josh Smith has been named the school’s interim athletic director and that Matt Buha will become the new varsity coach. Westminster student awarded full scholarship

Westminster Christian Academy senior, Juhyae Kim, was recently awarded a full academic scholarship to Swarthmore College through the QuestBridge program. Kim was among the top 3 percent of QuestBridge student applicants to receive a full scholarship. She received a four-year academic scholarship, valued in excess of $250,000.

The fourth-graders at Andrews Academy in Creve Coeur have been working on a business project inspired by the book “The Lemonade War” by Jacqueline Davies. The brother and sister in the book have a lemonade war for three days, battling to see who will earn the most profit.

Teams advance in FIRST LEGO League competition The Seuss Scientists, a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team representing several West County schools, recently participated in an Eastern Missouri Qualifier. Coaches Scott and Marta Allred of Wildwood Middle; Kate Allred, an eighth-grader at LaSalle Springs Middle; Ben Hughes, a fifth-grader at Ridge Meadows Elementary; Myles Allred, a fifth-grader at Ridge Meadows Elementary; and Brendan Benigno, a fifth-grader at St. Alban Roe make up the team.
