The 2019 St. Louis Browns annual reunion luncheon will honor the 75th anniversary of the all-St. Louis 1944 World Series. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 21. Priory graduate Shallenberger plays well in in first season with Kats in St. Louis Metro Collegiate Baseball League

Mark Shallenberger’s first hit in the the St. Louis Metro Collegiate Baseball League set the tone for his season. The Kats are a bridesmaids no more. After winning the regular season championship three out of the last four year and advancing to the championship series three times in the St. Louis Metro Collegiate Baseball League, the Kats and coach Bo Bunton are champions. The Kats will meet the Bandits to decide the 2019 St. Louis Metro College Baseball League championship. The best-of-five series begins at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Parkway South. It will be a rematch of last year’s championship series won by the Bandits and coach Rick Fiala. The Bandits won the 2018 championship with a 5-3 Game 5 victory in 10 innings over the Kats to claim the best-of-five series. Parkway West grad Swiney honored with Stan Musial Award for sportsmanship

Jackson Swiney wears No. 6 because his father, Shane, wore No. 6. Jackson Swiney earned a spot on Conference USA’s all-freshman baseball team. He was honored with the Stan Musial award by the St. Louis Metro Collegiate Baseball League. The elder Swiney wore the number because he was a huge fan of Hall of Famer Stan Musial, who had the number.
