Incarnate Word Academy captures ninth consecutive district title, will face St. Dominic in sectional

The Incarnate Word Academy Red Knights rolled through the district and recorded their ninth consecutive championship. The Red Knights won the Class 4 District 7 played at Fort Zumwalt East with a 61-30 win over St. Charles. Incarnate Word faces St. Dominic (19-6) in a sectional game at Francis Howell Central.         Parkway Central senior forward Arther Green had been telling Colts big man Devion Harris that he was due to have a big game when the playoffs began. On Friday night, Green’s prophecy got some life on the court.     The Vianney Golden Griffins were fortunate to knock off Chaminade 61-57 on Dec. 21. On Friday, the Red Devils celebrated Senior Night at the Chaminade Athletictron, and a balanced, focused Red Devils squad got payback against the Golden Griffins with little trouble. Whitfield boys, girls will open postseason basketball play at home in district competition

Whitfield begins its quest for another trip to the Class 3 Final Four for its boys and girls basketball teams. The road to state begins at home as Whitfield will host the District 4 tournament for the boys and girls. The Warriors  (17-7) are seeking their third consecutive trip to the Final Four. Whitfield finished second in the boys state tournament last winter. Transportation and Law dashed the Warriors’ state title dream by scoring a 78-68 win.
