MICDS meets Ladue for Class 4 football state championship at Faurot Field

The football history at MICDS includes seven state championships. The Rams have an opportunity to add No. 8. MICDS (13-1) will play undefeated Ladue (14-0) in a battle of the Rams at 7 p.m. Friday (Nov. 30) at Faurot Field in Columbia. it is MICDS’ first trip to the state championship game since 2011 when Webb City topped MICDS. CBC meets Rockhurst as Cadets will try to win back-to-back Class 6 state football championships

The CBC Cadets stand poised to win their second consecutive Class 6 state championship and third overall. CBC (11-1) will face the Rockhurst Hawklets (11-2) at 6 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 24) at Faurot Field in Columbia. The Cadets are making their fourth state championship appearance in five seasons under coach Scott Pingel. CBC won its first state championship in 2014 when the Cadets scored a 31-24 victory over Rockhurst. MICDS will play Class 4 state football semifinal game at home against Smithville

The MICDS Rams will honor the late Ron Holtman before they play in the Class 4 state semifinal football game. The Rams (12-1) will play the visiting Smithville Warriors (11-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 24) at Ron Holtman Stadium. The 1,000-seat stadium is home of MICDS Rams football, boys and girls soccer teams and boys and girls lacrosse teams. Holtman died recently at the age of 90. MICDS travels to Hannibal to face Pirates in Class 4 quarterfinal football game

The MICDS Rams have a chance to host a state semifinal game with one more victory and it would be a great deal to the school’s football community. The Rams (12-1) will play in a Class 4 quarterfinal game at noon Saturday (Nov. 17) at Hannibal. The team that emerges victorious will meet the winner of Warrensburg-Smithville game next week. It’s Week 12 of the high school football season. Four teams remain and two of them are going head-to-head this week. All the games are for a district championship. Here is a look at the scheduled games. Class 6 CBC (9-1) is the defending Class 6 state champion. The Cadets will host fellow Metro Catholic Conference rival De Smet at 7 p.m. Friday (Nov. 9). The Parkway West Longhorns hit the road with momentum for the second week in Class 5 postseason football. The 7-3 Longhorns will face the 6-3 Vianney Golden Griffons at 7 p.m. Friday (Nov. 2). Parkway North’s Bunton ready to begin his last postseason as Vikings football head coach

Parkway North coach Bob Bunton knows he is on borrowed time but he’s too busy to think about it. Bunton posted a letter on Facebook back in September where he announced he would step down at the end of the season and retire from coaching and teaching. Bunton, a Parkway North graduate, is in his 19th season as the head football coach for the Vikings after spending 18 years as an assistant coach.
