Westminster Christian Academy, MICDS meet in Metro League football matchup

Westminster Christian Academy and MICDS have developed a fine high school football rivalry in recent years. The two Metro League schools will square off at 1 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 13) at Westminster. “Westminster have become one of our rivals,” MICDS coach Josh Smith said. “They are in our classification (Class 4) for the postseason. We’ve had some real competitive games with them.” The teams are split 4-4 over the last eight games. Week 4 high school football: Marquette plays at Lafayette

It’s  Week 4 of the high school football season and a big rivalry game highlights the schedule for area teams. The Marquette Mustangs(1-2) will play at Lafayette (0-3) against the Lancers. The kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday (Sept. 12). This will be the first time playing this game for new Mustangs coach Matt Klein. Lafayette has won eight of the last 10 meetings with the Mustangs. Undefeated CBC ready to begin conference play with game at Vianney

When CBC coach Scott Pingel looked at his schedule for this season, he knew he’d have to take it one game at a time. Rembold OT field goal lifts Parkway Central over Parkway North

  Parkway Central and Parkway North fans had to wait a day for their teams to hit the gridiron against each other but oh the wait was so worth it. The Colts and Vikings battled back and forth for 48 minutes and it took overtime to decide the contest between the two longtime Parkway District rivals. Parkway Central kicker Michael Rembold booted through a 35-yard field goal in the first overtime and the Colts escaped with a 17-14 victory at Parkway North on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 6). Severe weather postpones Parkway Central at Parkway North

  The national anthem had just been played at Parkway North and just a few minutes later, spectators, players and coaches were asked to evacuate the stadium on Friday night. Lightning and severe weather caused a two-hour delay and ultimately the football game between Parkway Central and Parkway North was postponed. The game has been moved to today with a 11 a.m. kickoff. There will be no gate admission for the game today.

Lindenwood gives Ross 100th win with opening victory at Washburn

  On Thursday night (Sept. 4) the Lindenwood football Lions gave head coach Patrick Ross a double present with a season-opening 44-38 victory over Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. Lindenwood moves to 1-0  (1-0 in the Midwest Intercollegiate Athletic Association) to start the season, and in addition the win was the 100th in Ross coaching career. Klein wants to build Marquette football program step by step

Marquette coach Matt Klein picked up the first win in his Mustangs career and he hopes for many more to come as he builds the program. Klein, who was hired from Knob Noster in mid-Missouri, has the Mustangs off to a 1-1 start. Marquette dropped the season opener at home 31-7 to a strong Ritenour squad.
