Lafayette’s Biermann ends sophomore season with second-place finish in Class 2 state golf tournament

Lafayette sophomore Brooke Biermann capped her season with a second-place finish in the Class 2 state golf tournament. Biermann, of Wildwood, shot rounds of 71 and 72 to score a 143 over the two-day tournament at Swope Park Golf Course in Kansas City. Notre Dame de Sion sophomore Megan Propeck won state with a state record 5-under-par 139. MICDS finishes third in sixth consecutive trip to girls state golf tournament

The MICDS Rams finished third in the Class 1 state golf tournament and junior Parker Perry came in third overall. “This season marked the sixth year in a row taking a team to state,” coach Steve Johnston said. “(I) Don’t know the record books at MICDS, but (I) have to believe our streak of six years in a row has to be a school record.” This fall, the Rams were put back in Class 1 by the Missouri State High School Activities Association. It’s one thing to set a goal. It’s another thing to work hard and accomplish it, especially if the goal is winning a state championship. Make that another state championship. But that’s what the St. Joseph’s Academy Angels did this season. St. Joseph’s won its third consecutive Class 2 state championship. The victory ended an undefeated season for the Angels in dual matches, regular season tournaments and three postseason tournaments. Lafayette’s Biermann qualifies for Class 2 state golf tournament again

Lafayette sophomore Brooke Biermann is two for two. Biermann has qualified to play in her second Class 2 state golf tournament. The two-day tournament begins Monday (Oct. 15) at Swope Park Golf Course in Kansas City. Biermann captured medalist honors for the second time this postseason by winning the Sectional 2 meet at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton. Biermann shot a 3-over 75 to win by two strokes. Port finishes fourth overall 57th U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship to advance to match up

Three-time champion Ellen Port has reached match play in the 57th U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship. Port, 57, of St. Louis, fired a 1-under 71 on Sunday at Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club, Vero Beach, Florida. Port was one of just four players to break par in Round 2, along with Pamela Kuong, 57, of Wellesley Hills, Mass, 2005 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion Mary Ann Hayward [2-under 70] and 2017 Senior Women’s Amateur runner-up Terrill Samuel [1-under 71]. The Lafayette Lancers head into the Class 2 Sectional 2 meet with confidence. The Lancers finished second in the Class 2 District 3 meet that was played at The Landings at Spirit Golf Course in Chesterfield. Step 1 is complete for the St. Joseph’s Academy girls golf team. Step 2 is Monday in the Class 2 Sectional 1 tournament that tees off at 8 a.m. at Cresent Farms Golf Club. Teams in the sectional will be Nerinx Hall, Fox, Ursuline and Cor Jesu. The St. Joseph’s Academy Angels will be anxiously awaiting what advice Joey has to give to them as they begin postseason play. Joey is a stuffed animal — a little basset hound — that coach Carol Fromuth brings to the matches. “I have motivational sayings attached to his ears,” said Fromuth, who also raises basset hounds. “He’s green and silver. Parkway Central wins Suburban Conference Green Pool golf tournament, set to play in district meet

The Parkway Central Colts capped off a solid regular season by winning the Suburban Conference Green Pool tournament. The Colts finished first with a team score of 370 at Cresent Farms.  Ladue  was second with a 379. Parkway West came in third at 425 and Parkway North was fourth at 438.
