Seminar scheduled for athletes interested in college golf scholarships

The Accelerated Golf Tour is sponsoring a free college scholarship seminar Saturday (Nov. 14) at St. Joseph’s Academy. The seminar begins at 9 a.m. and will last until noon. The panel discussion on collegiate golf programs is open to boys and girls from the eighth grade to high school seniors who may be interested in playing collegiate golf. Athletes  can learn about the regulations associated with recruiting and contacting schools and coaches. Marquette, St. Joseph’s Academy compete in the Class 2 state girls golf tournament

Fresh off winning the Class 2 Sectional 1 tournament, the Marquette girls golf team is back competing at the state tournament. Play in the two-day state meet begins Monday (Oct. 11) at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield. “I am very excited to take the girls to the state tournament,” coach Eric Schweain said. “They are wonderful people and I will miss hanging out with them after the season. MICDS begins quest to win second Class 1 state girls golf championship

When a team wins a state championship, the drive to get back and do it again can create pressure on the squad. The MICDS girls golf team did not succumb to any pressure this season and waltzed back to a berth in the Class 1 state championship after winning the Sectional 1 tournament. “We are thrilled to be back at state,” Rams coach Steve Johnston said. “The girls know what lies ahead. Class 2 Sectional 1 high school girls golf tourney loaded with talented teams

Eureka coach Lauren Schoellhorn won’t be with her Wildcats when they tee it up in high school girls sectional golf tournament. She wasn’t with them when the qualified at district, either. Instead, Schoellhorn gave birth to a girl, Gretchen, who has a brother Noah, who is almost 3 years old. Her assistant coach, Ryley Spiezio, led the girls to districts and will be at the sectional as well while Schoellhorn is on maternity leave. MICDS travels to play in high school girls golf sectional

Parkway Central, Incarnate Word Academy ready to compete in high school girls golf sectional

Coach Todd Pannett has no seniors on his Parkway Central girls golf team this fall but that not stopped them this fall. The Colts got out of the district and qualified to play in the Class 2 Sectional 2 tournament.
