Panel discussion set for boys, girls interested in playing college golf

The Accelerated Golf Tour will host a panel discussion for boys and girls interested in playing college golf. The seminar for athletes in grades 8-12 and will held Saturday (Dec. 2)  beginning at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Academy.  NCAA compliance offers and NCAA Division I coaches along with college players and their parents will be on hand to answer questions. Subjects of discussion will include NCAA rules and regulations, college visits and recruiting videos. The seminar is free and no registration is necessary. Midgal is Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association Men’s Player of the Year again

For the second year consecutive year, Sam Midgal is the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association Men’s Player of the Year. Midgal, of Ballwin, was among those the MAGA honored as its 2017 Players of the Year recently at Old Warson Country Club. Migdal continued his 2016 season by starting 2017 with a victory in the 2017 Old Warson Cup in May. MICDS girls golf team enjoyed another fine season that ended with third-place finish at state tournament

It was another quality season for the MICDS girls golf team. The Rams placed third in the Class 2 state tournament with a 647. The two-day tournament was held at the Sedalia Country Club. MICDS headed into state fresh off winning sectional tournament. St. Joseph’s Academy wins Class 2 state girls golf tournament, fifth in school’s history

Sure it was windy, cold and rainy. That didn’t matter to the St. Joseph’s Academy Angels. The Angels ignored the elements and came from behind to win the Class 2 state girls golf tournament at the Sedalia Country Club. St. Joseph’s shot a 623 to win by 10 strokes. The Angels entered the second round two strokes behind Kansas City’s Notre Dame de Sion, which ended in second with a 633. MICDS came in third at 647. Lafayette was fourth with a 679. Cusuamano earns first berth in USGA event, will play in 2018 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship

Playing golf at a qualify Florida course in May sounds enticing for any golfer and Alex Cusumano is looking forward to the opportunity. Cusumano, 25, and his playing partner Garrett Marschke, have qualified to play in the 2018 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. “It will be the highlight of the summer,” Cusumano said. “We will both be working hard in the spring to prepare making the match play portion of the Four-Ball event.” Playing in a United States Golf Association is a goal for any amateur golfer. After sectional victory, Lafayette girls return to state golf tournament for first time since 2013

For the first time since 2013, the Lafayette Lancers will be competing as a team in the Class 2 state girls golf tournament. The Lancers punched their state ticket by winning the Sectional 2 tournament. The two-day Class 2 state tournament begins Monday (Oct. 9) and will be played at the Sedalia Country Club. It’s the last time four senior Lancers will play for the program. They are Paige Sanfelippo, Anika Pulumati, Alyssa Serafin and Allison Harrell. Local junior golfers named to compete in annual Mid-America Junior Cup Matches

The top local high school boys and girls have been announced who will compete for the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association in the annual Mid-America Junior Cup Matches against the Kansas City Golf Association. This year’s two-day competition will be held Oct. 21-22 at Shadow Glen Golf Club in Olathe, Kan. The KCGA kept the cup for the fourth consecutive year in 2016, winning 5-3 at St. Louis Country Club. Lafayette, Marquette girls set to compete in sectional golf tournament

The Lafayette Lancers head into the high school girls sectional golf tournament with plenty of momentum. The Lancers won the Class 2 District 3 championship with a team score of 321.
