Reigning champion CBC ready to begin Mid-States Club Hockey Association postseason play

It’s the time of year that players and coaches wait for since practice began last October — playoff hockey. Postseason play in the Mid-States Club Hockey Association begins with first-round play Thursday. CBC, 23-2, is the top seed in the Challenge Cup. The Cadets face No. 12 Duchesne at 9:30 p.m. Friday (Jan. 30) at St. Peters Rec-Plex South. CBC is the reigning champion and has 13 champions in all. Coach John Jost has won nine leading the Cadets. Team USA’s Jincy Dunne grabs gold with exceptional overtime goal

Scoring the game-winning goal in overtime to help Team USA win the world hockey championship provided a perk that thrilled Jincy Dunne and her fellow students at The Fulton School at St. Albans. Dunne, 17, played a big role in helping the United States score a 3-2 victory against Canada in the gold-medal game of the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship in Buffalo, New York. CBC, Vianney, Francis Howell are top seeds in postseason Mid-States Club Hockey Association tournaments

Defending Challenge Cup champion CBC is the No. 1 seed for this year’s Mid-States Club Hockey Association’s top postseason tournament. The Cadets went a spotless 12-0 to win the Metro Division. In Mid-States play, CBC went a perfect 21-0. Overall, the Cadets are 23-2 with the two loses coming in a Chicago tournament over the winter break. Overall, CBC has won a record 13 Mid-States championships. The top seed in the Wickenheiser Cup went to Vianney, who finished with a 6-13-1 overall record. Undermanned Parkway South comes up short against Kirkwood

    Playing without seven players down due to injury and with its top two lines missing, the Parkway South Patriots seemed heavily overmatched against the talented Kirkwood Pioneers at the start of their Mid-States hockey clash. Westminster Christian Academy, De Smet eager to play in Mid-States hockey Winter Classic

Westminster Christian Academy and De Smet get a chance to show they can play hockey outdoors as well as they do indoors. The team are part of the 2015 edition of the Mid-States Club Hockey Association’s Winter Classic. The annual outdoor lineup of hockey games will be played at Clayton’s Shaw Park. O’Fallon’s Jincy Dunne’s power-play goal 51 seconds into overtime Monday (Jan. 12) lifted the United States to a 3-2 victory against Canada in the gold-medal game of the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship in Buffalo, N.Y. Team USA and Canada have played in every gold-medal game since the U18 Women’s World Championship started in 2008. Each team now has won four gold medals.       It has been a season of challenge and change in recent weeks for the Marquette Mustangs hockey team as the club recently changed coaches and has struggled to gain momentum.
