Parkway South’s Moore, Buckels ready to play in Class 2 state doubles tournament

The Parkway South tennis doubles team of senior Maggie Moore and freshman Khayli Buckels came together late in the season. Now, they are making their way to state. The pair begin play Friday in the Class 2 state doubles tournament at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield. St. Joseph’s Academy looks to win Class 2 state team tennis title; Angels send singles, doubles players to state as well

The St. Joseph’s Academy Angels are knocking on the door for their first state team tennis championship since 2012. The Angels will be looking to knock down that door Thursday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield. The St. Joseph’s Academy girls tennis team plays Parkway Central at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Class 2 state Final Four. Marquette marches into sectional after winning fifth consecutive district softball championship

The Marquette Mustangs have grown accustomed to reaching the Final Four in Class 4 softball. Two years ago, the Mustangs won the state championship. Last fall, Marquette finished fourth. Incarnate Word faces Rosati-Kain in sectional after winning districts softball title

The Incarnate Word Academy Red Knights will get a rematch with the Rosati-Kain Kougars in a sectional softball game. The Red Knights will play Rosati-Kain at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Affton Athletic Complex. The Incarnate Word Academy softball team won the Class 3 District 3 championship to advance to the sectional round. Eureka girls win Suburban Conference Championships

The Eureka Wildcats girls cross country showed they could be a force in the postseason with their recent win in the Suburban Conference Championships. Eureka won with 68 points in the meet that was held at the 5-kilometer course at McNair Park. Parkway West was second with 102 followed by Lafayette with 112. The Eureka girls won the Suburban Conference Cross Country Championships for the first time. Lafayette freshman Grace Tyson captured first place in another big race. Tyson came in first in the Suburban Conference Championships girls meet with a time of in 18 minutes, 56.89 seconds. The meet was held at the 5-kilometer course at McNair Park. Lancers coach Steven Stallis said it’s impressive to finish first in the meet. “It’s a great field of runners,” Stallis said. “It’s a large majority of the most competitive schools in St. Louis minus the St. Charles schools and private schools. The Parkway South Patriots girls tennis team are district tennis champions at last. The Patriots defeated Eureka 5-1 to claim the Class 2 District 3 team championship on their home courts. The Parkway South girls tennis team won the Class 2 District 3 tournament.
