MICDS duo of White, Cooper looking forward to postseason tennis

Marquette plays in Gateway Match Up Volleyball Tournament after winning Summit Tournament

The Marquette Mustangs girls volleyball team are tournament champions. The Marquette Mustangs volleyball team won the recent Summit Tournament. The Mustangs won the recent Summit Tournament. Marquette defeated O’Fallon Christian 25-23, 25-19 to earn the championship. It was a solid showing for her squad, Marquette coach Tammy Becker said. “The girls were ecstatic to finish out on top,” Becker said. “I think it will help build confidence in our younger players.” Marquette was seeded third in the tournament. Lafayette gets chance to avenge loss with girls volleyball match against Cor Jesu

The Lafayette Lancers will have a chance to play the team that gave them a loss this season. The Lancers will hit the road and play Cor Jesu against the Chargers at 6 p.m. Tuesday. “Any time you play a top team in the area, it’s exciting,” Lafayette coach Zach Young said. “You hope you can bring your ‘A’ game and play with grit. Fresh off softball tournament championship, Eureka faces two tough home games

The Eureka Wildcats look to build on a tournament championship this week. The Wildcats (10-5-1) are back in action with two home games this week after beating Holt 6-5 to win the Suburban Showdown. Eureka will host Kirkwood at 4:30 p.m. Monday (Sept. 23) and then have a Suburban Conference Yellow Pool game at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday against always tough Parkway South. Parkway West girls ready for big Paul Enke Invitational after winning Nelson race

The Parkway West girls are off and running. Finally. The cross country Longhorns, who finished second in the Class 4 state meet last fall, at last got their 2019 season under way. They did so in winning fashion. The Parkway West girls will run in the Paul Enke Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 21). The Longhorns enter the big meet after winning the recent Stan Nelson Invitational. The Longhorns finished first in the Stan Nelson Invitational at Northwest High. Parkway West won with 76 points. Coach Kevin John’s Parkway West boys cross country Longhorns finally got to stretch their legs in something that counts. The Longhorns didn’t get a chance to run in the Parkway Quad. The season-opening meet was rained out.
